Hope in the Expecting Season

New paint for the baby room, baby showers, expecting parent books/podcasts, questions, thoughts, concerns, fears, joys, visions, and so on. Expecting parents, families, and friends try to prepare and make preparations for what the future may hold while they are expecting this new baby in the world. Yet, in all the ways we try to prepare during this season of expecting, we usually find what we were expecting in preparations does not equate to the real present moments. These moments bring much more than what we could have expected or prepared for! We welcome new joys, we face new challenges, we may face new pains, we experience new support, we ask new questions, we experience life in a new way. There are new sides of us that we discover, parts of us that are rekindled and developed as this new born also grows beyond what we imagined in our preparations.

When Jesus was born, He may have not been born exactly as many of the Jews were expecting; nor would Jesus grow up to be what many of the Jews were expecting. Yet, God would surpass their expectations, even if they couldn’t see it. Even for us, we may at times have a hard time seeing what all God has done and is doing; but with God being faithful, we get to have hope in the expectation, knowing He is doing far more and better things than we can even grasp or imagine for all eternity. In this season of expecting, we get to celebrate God fulfilling His promise through Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection, while also rekindling the hope we have in God’s Faithfulness for today and the expectant future of Jesus’ return in His full kingly glory :)

[Operation Christmas Child, Community Meal, & Christmas Treat Trays]

To experience Christ's Church in action is such a joy and a gracious gift! Thank you to each of you, in every way you have helped in each of our community events these past two months! Whether it was the Fall Festival in October, the Operation Christmas Child packing party (500+ boxes) in November, our Free Thanksgiving Community Meal in November (300+ meals), and/or preparing cookies and treats for surrounding businesses and locals in the community this month (30 trays)! It's a joy to share these events with each of you, to share the joy of each season with community members, and to see how God continues to be working in and through each of us in the surrounding communities as well. Thank you for letting Christ's love shine through you in any way He does :)

As the Apostle Paul shared to the Christians in Thessalonica,
"We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ."

Guided Prayers - Verses to Pray Through:

Colossians 1:9–14 (NIV) 
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Ephesians 1:3-14, 17-23 (NIV)
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
